The Toronto Jr A Canadiens are pleased to announce changes and additions in the Hockey Operations Department ahead of the 2023-24 Ontario Junior Hockey League season.
David DeMarinis will be returning for his third season with the club but as the team’s newest Head Coach & General Manager. DeMarinis joined the club as an Assistant Coach ahead of the 2021-22 season after coaching in the OJHL with the Pickering Panthers, Cobourg Cougars & Stouffville Spirit.
Jordan Bailey will be joining the organization for his first season as an Assistant Coach following a stint as an assistant with the Haliburton County Huskies.
Also joining as an assistant coach will be Mike Alexiou, Mike is a former OJHL player who went onto play Division I hockey at Merrimack College.
Brendan Kurnik has been appointed as the Assistant General Manager & Director of Scouting. Brendan previously worked for the St Michael’s Buzzers as a Scout & Game Analyst for the past four seasons.
In his 3rd season with Toronto, Sam Hossack, the current Manager of Social Media & Media Relations, has added the role of ETA Scout to his responsibilities and will be scouting the OMHA ETA U18 AAA Loop.
Rick Varone will be returning in his role as Director of Hockey Operations. Rick has been with the organization since 2014 and is also the head coach of the U18 AAA Jr Canadiens a direct affiliate of the Jr organization
Johnny “Zamboni” Guthenberg will be back again as the team’s equipment manager. Johnny is a legend around the rinks and is a key piece to the Jr Canadiens organization dating back to it’s Wexford days.
The 2023 – 24 Ontario Junior Hockey League season is set to open on September 7th 2023 and will feature each team playing a 56 game schedule. Stay tuned to all JRC Social Media pages for our schedule release.
